Privacy

We collect as little as we can, and we explain what we keep and why.

What we store

• Your account: email address (never shown publicly), display name, and sign-in details (passwords are stored only as secure hashes).
• Your contributions: reviews, check-ins, comments, photos and helpful marks.
• Security data: sessions, plus IP addresses only as hashes made with a salt that changes daily and is deleted after 7 days. After that they can't be linked back to you, even by us.

Photos are re-encoded when you upload them, which removes camera and location (GPS) data.

What's public

Your display name, trust badge, reviews, check-ins and comments. Dates are shown by month only.

Your rights

• Export: download everything we hold about you as JSON from your account page.
• Delete: delete your account at any time. Your email, sign-in methods, sessions, photos and the helpful marks you gave are permanently deleted. Your reviews, check-ins and comments stay on the site as "[deleted user]", no longer linked to you in any way, because other people rely on this durability data.

Emails

We only send sign-in emails, check-in reminders (one when a check-in opens and at most one nudge) and, if you want them, comment notifications. Every reminder has a one-click link to pause or stop.

Emails are delivered by our email provider, Mailtrap, which receives your email address and the message only to deliver them. Our emails contain no tracking pixels, and their links aren't rewritten.
